La luna es como una cimitarra,
Una pequeña cimitarra de plata,
A la deriva por el cielo.
Y cerca junto a ella hay una estrella,
Una tímida estrella de oro centelleante,
Que vela como un ojo.
Y a través del crital de la ventana del cuarto de los niños
Las brujas tienen un fuego nuevo
igual que los que nosotros hacemos,
Y sé que ahora están tomando el té,
Ojalá me dieran una taza,
Con pastel de pasas de brujas.
Dusk in Autumn
The moon is like a scimitar,
A little silver scimitar,
A-drifting down the sky.
And near beside it is a star,
A timid twinkling golden star,
That watches like an eye.
And thro' the nursery window-pane
The witches have a fire again,
Just like the ones we make,—
And now I know they're having tea,
I wish they'd give a cup to me,
With witches' currant cake.
